Skin Colour and Racism

US President Obama’s hair turns grey after 44days in the White House—TOI News headlines.

Those who go into the White House should come out turning grey. It is the White House’s rules, not Nature’s. Since the entire US kingdom is situated on his head he will surely feel the weight. It is like snail carrying its shell on its back. PM Manmohan Singh lost all his hair in 5 year term. Even his eyebrows turned into a white streak. Stress eats into the hair roots and causes the hair fall. That’s why some people have hair loss. Sometimes it may be hereditary. Some people turn grey but they have a head full of hair. Their hair roots must be strong—only pigment changes—hair does not fall off. However, hair is a good indicator that shows your age, health and how much stress you suffer.

President Obama is always a target of criticism. Is it because of his skin colour or his destiny? He is known as black president. It is very pathetic that when a person becomes leader he is known by his skin, not his skill. When Nelson Mandela became president had he been called black president? Black leader for whites is a problem. Black people can have a white leader too for a change. When colours black and white mix we get a grey hue. That’s why Obama looks grey, not black.

Why do we have different skin colour? Mother Nature has given human beings the colour of the soil. It must be to camouflage with the soil when ancient human beings had to go about without clothes. If we hadn’t tried to evolve we all would have looked like tribes. Life style has an impact on skin colour. When life style change skin colour and skin texture also change accordingly. Modern life makes our skin colour lighter and texture delicate. If we live without clothes and shelter our skin will be like animals. Animals have got thick hide that can withstand sunlight.

Birds and animals have got different attractive colours. Their skin colour camouflage with the tress and flowers. Imagine, if we were coloured like animals and birds how would have we felt? If we learn about the colours that are in the universe there will be no place for racism in our hearts.
