International Women's Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated just a few days ago on March 8. Indian ordinary citizens don’t believe in such Day Culture except some certain days such as Independence Day, Republic Day, Birthdays and Indian traditional festival days. So the women’s Day celebration will be a lack- luster one and it is a celebration only for the hi-profile people in India.

Women have these five choices to lead their life that I put forward--

1. To get married as early as possible, settle with married life, raise children, serve husband and never think of a career.

2. If you are qualified and efficient to take up a job, go ahead with it and spend the rest of the life as a spinster, never to think of marriage.

3. If you are not qualified or not efficient to do any job, yet you are not interested in marriage, live in your maternal home helping other members in household chores. It is possible if you are living in a joint family.

4. If you are physically and mentally strong and qualified you can have both, married life and job. You will be able to balance career and home. There are some lucky women who manage career and home very well. Their husbands must be supportive.

5. If you think you are incapable of doing any work, yet you are not interested in married life, choose a spiritual path, spend your life doing spiritual work and never think of material life.

All women are not lucky to have everything; all are not fit for marriage; all do not have brain for good education; all are not talented or efficient to do a job. Understand yourself; judge your capacity before you do anything. Behind every successful woman there is fortune and there must be an understanding man.

Now a time has come that all girls need to be well-educated. They want to have a better career and to be independent. Hence, they burn the midnight oil and get exausted to acquire a university degree and for the sake of a career. Three decades ago there was not such pressure on women. When I was in school only 2dozen students had passed in the board examination out of approximately 500 students in a batch. Hush! Hush! Better if I whispered. You can imagine the standard of education. And in my division only 9 students including me had passed. “In a kingdom with people without nose, a man with a half nose is a king.”-an age-old saying. I was proud of being one. Those who have failed didn’t commit suicide. Failure in school was not failure in life then. They had other choice. Girls would get married early. Boys can try again. Education was an individual matter, not for school’s credit. There was no pressure to obtain ranks. So there was no tension. Now girls are in a situation that they can cope with neither career nor married life.
Where is job for all educated persons either? To make 100% successful citizens is only a dream. When some are successful others will be a total failure. It is Nature’s rules.
